TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN MODERN EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES Prof. (Dr) K.SIVARAJAN The paper on 'Trends and Developments in Modern Educational Practices which forms part of the revised curriculum for the B.Ed. Degree of the Universities in Kerala includes a variety of topics that exhibit a high degree of heterogeneity in nature. These topics range from Educational Technology and Models of Teaching at one end to Value Education at the other. This is likely to pose problems to teacher educators and teacher trainees who would try to establish a unity in that diversity. However, a close scrutiny of the manuscript prepared by Dr. K. Sivarajan, for a text book on the subject has convinced me that bringing about such harmony is possible and that too in a meaningful manner. He has succeeded to a very great extent in linking the diverse aspects to be handled, in the common thread of the message of Technology and the Systems Approach as applied in Education, namely maximisation the output of developmental education. At the same time been extremely faithful to the curricular prescription too. I have no doubt in that this publication will receive a hearty welcome from all students of education who are concerned about mastering strategies for imparting quality education as well as about their success in the university examination
